1965 Impala, Bel Air & Biscayne Tail Lamps: Count Your Lamps First — Every Lens, Housing, Bezel and Gasket by Part Number
The back of a 1965 full-size Chevy is mostly tail lamps, and when they go — cracked lens, rusted-through housing, a chrome ring that fell off in a car wash — it's the first thing anyone behind you notices. The good news: the reproduction catalog for '65 is deep, and most of these parts are in stock in the hundreds. The catch: the same year of car used three different lamp layouts, and the parts are counted differently for each.
So before you add anything to a cart, go stand behind the car and count.
Step 1: Count your lamps — Impala, Bel Air or Biscayne?
The vendor spells this out on the housings and bezels themselves, so these numbers come straight off the parts:

Six lamps across the back is the Impala. Four is a Bel Air or Biscayne. That one count decides how many of everything you buy.
Biscayne owners, one catch: OER says the standard housing is "not for use with Biscayne model back-up lamps due to diameter of the bulb socket," and points to its own K3205 (LH) and K3206 (RH) Biscayne back-up housings. We don't currently list those two — send us a note and we'll check on them for you.
Step 2: Pick the job — lenses, housings, chrome, or seal-up
Most '65s don't need everything. Here's the catalog broken down by what's actually wrong with yours.
Cracked or faded lenses
- Impala, all six at once: 881262 — $165.99. All six lenses, "2 of the 6 have the backup lamp lenses," and each comes with the chrome trim ring and center tip ornament already attached, with the correct SAE and Guide markings.
- Impala, one at a time: 5956328 — $46.99 each. Also comes with the ring and tip ornament. OER's own note: "Fits 1965 Chevrolet Impala models. Not original equipment for Bel Air or Biscayne models. Four tail lamp lenses required per vehicle."
- Lenses plus chrome in one box: 881286/881262 — $289.31. The six-lens set above plus six hi-shine chrome steel trim ring bezels with mounting screws and nuts — twelve pieces for a 1965 Impala.
- Bel Air or Biscayne: the standard lens above is Impala-correct, not Bel Air or Biscayne. If you want a factory-style lens for a four-lamp car, ask us before you order.
Not going factory? Two options are titled for the full-size cars: the 14060 blue dot lens ($39.99 each, titled for 1965 Impala, Bel Air and Biscayne, fits RH or LH) and the C6504 LED tail lamp in red or C6504C in clear ($43.99 each, titled "1965 Impala / Full Size," fits RH or LH). Both are stocked in small numbers.
Rusted-out housings
- One at a time: K3201 LH driver / K3202 RH passenger — $43.99 each. Stamped steel, and OER says each one "includes pre-attached lens to housing gasket and housing to body gaskets." Fits tail, stop, turn or back-up. Order by your count from Step 1: 3 per side on an Impala, 2 on a Bel Air, 1 on a Biscayne.
- Impala or Bel Air six-lamp set: *881278 — $143.99 for three RH and three LH, gaskets pre-attached. OER describes it as for 1965 Impala and Bel Air "models equipped with six rear lamps."
- Sockets: if the old pigtails are crusty, OER points to A11157 ($17.99), the stop, turn and tail lamp socket it names on the housing listing.
Pitted chrome
- Outer bezels: 5956419 LH / 5956420 RH — $46.99 each, bright polished chrome, mounting studs and installation hardware included. Fits Impala, Bel Air and Biscayne — 3 per side on an Impala, 2 per side on the other two.
- Six-piece bezel set: 881286 — $128.79 for six hi-shine chrome steel trim ring bezels for the 1965 Impala, with mounting hardware.
- Keeping your original lenses? The lens trim ring and the center tip ornament are sold separately: K3208 trim ring ($29.99 each) and K3209 ornament ($21.99 each), both for Impala and Bel Air, adhesive recommended. Or all twelve in one box: *881287 — $133.99, six rings and six ornaments for six-lamp cars. One note on that set from the vendor: "Not for use on ... station wagon models."
- Biscayne: OER is honest about the rings and ornaments — they "will fit Biscayne lenses for a custom look," but they're not correct for a Biscayne, which didn't get them from the factory.

Water in the trunk: gaskets
Every new OER housing above already has both gaskets on it. You only need loose gaskets if you're keeping your original housings:
- Lens to housing: W2380 — $36.99, six die-cut gaskets, listed for the 1965 Impala 2-door hardtop, station wagon and convertible.
- Housing to body: W2381 — $36.99, die-cut, for the 1965 Impala and full-size cars.

*881309 — $549.99. For the 1965 Impala: four tail lamp lenses, two back-up lenses, six lamp bases with lens gaskets, six die-cast chrome trim rings, and the base-to-body gasket set. One box, every lamp.
